I'm almost 58 years old and I started shaving with disposables and later used some cartridges. Around 1998 I decided to start shaving my head due to baldness and someone recommended a Mach 3. I started to use it for both my face and my head. Recently I saw the Rick Harrison commercial and decided to try "his" DE razor. I do like it but it is my first and only DE razor so far so I have nothing really to compare it to. I've always enjoyed shaving so I'm enjoying this site.
What I've settled on so far is shaving my face with the DE razor and my head with Mach III. I haven't tried the brush and lather yet. I really like Barbasol goo. I've only tried 3 different kind of blades so far and I like Derbys, but honestly the Dollar General ones seem perfectly fine to me. I almost quit twice with DE shaving but I'm improving a lot and sticking with it. I've discovered my favorite "aftershave" is cold water! I have sensitive skin and don't like fragrances - the cold water really feels good! My prep can be improved but at least I let the goo on my face for 2 minutes before shaving.
So at this point I guess I'm a hybrid shaver. When I travel I just take a disposable so I use cartridges, DE blades, and disposables and I like all three!
