Around three months ago, I decided to stop shaving for a while. Call it a month ago since I started lurking on a fairly frequent basis before caving & joining up. I had my Slim to start, but nothing else. So, tonight everything kind of lined up. My supplies from West Coast showed up a couple of days ago: a blade sampler, Omega 11047 with a Simpson travel tube, sticks of Tabac & Palmolive, & mustache comb. I had two News (LC & SC) & a New Improved in the air. The SC showed up today along with a second WC order for some Wacky Tacky. I'd held off for one of the News to show up since I expected clogging with the Slim, given the amount of hair I needed to get rid of. Brasso'd the SC & loaded it up with an Astra.
Lather step, initially a fail. I went with the Tabac. For whatever reason, my initial attempt at face lathering...didn't. Whatever the problem was, lather was eventually achieved. Not enough water perhaps. Took a few strokes to get the angle down, but once I had it, it utterly kicked the ass of any shave I've had previously. I don't keep babies around for comparison, but I'd say I got it pretty smooth. No cuts. Rinsed, splash on some witch hazel, worked on applying some Firehouse. That last bit actually took way longer than I expected. I've been combing since the comb came to get things in some semblence of order ahead of time, but it's a work in progress. Still some strays & general disorder to bring under control, but I think it works ok.
