I started shaving with a brush and safety razor a little over a year ago, and while I have quite a few creams, soaps, aftershaves, etc., I still have only used one brush and one razor. I'm thinking I want to try a new brush.
My brush is an Omega 13109 pure badger brush. http://ift.tt/1OAZ25e
I know people seem to really like Omega boar brushes, but I never hear anyone talking about Omega badger brushes. I really have no idea if it's a good brush or not since I don't have anything to compare it to.
The reason I want to try a new brush is that I am having some trouble lathering soaps. My brush seems to do great at lathing up creams and even Cella, but I have really struggled with Mystic Water and, most recently, Col. Conks glycerin soaps. I just get really loose bubbly lather. I don't know if it is my brush necessarily, but I have tried to get a good lather with my brush multiple times and can't seem to get it close.
I have generally bowl lathered, but I have tried face lathering with the soaps. I don't really have a preference one way or another. Are some types of brushes better for soap vs cream? Face lathering vs bowl lathering?
I have thought about the following:
- an Omega boar brush
- a synthetic Plisson brush
- a whipped dog synthetic or badger brush.
Any recommendations?
Thanks!
