Something I picked up on eBay

I won this today, and I was actually hoping you fine gentlemen could tell me about it. I thought I won the set for a nice price, but I am always interested in the history of the piece. Also, what can you tell about the shape that it is in? Did I do well for a piece over 100 years old?
