What DE do I buy now?

I've been wet shaving for 50+ years now, and I haven't worried too much about what razor or blade, etc that I used.

Just as long as I looked clean and tidy was OK.

But, having read a few threads on this forum I realise that maybe I should get 'into' my shaving a bit more.

Currently using a Muhle R89 Grande (I enjoy using that large handle, not happy with dinky little, wispy handles).

I also use a vintage barley corn Gillette (but, it has that dinky wee handle!).

Tried a Goodfella (made here in New Zealand), but it too has a dinky handle, and the open comb was a bit of a let down. So, sold that off, and now looking for that magical 'something'.

Just want to get a wee bit more bite than the Gillette or Muhle give (ie. a wee bit more 'shave' than I'm getting now).

(I've tried various blades and sort of settled on Feather, and Derby)

I'm thinking of either a Merkur 34C HD (Hefty) $70NZ, or a Merkur Futur $120NZ.

Remember that we probably don't have the full choice of items over here either.

What can anyone suggest, or are my two new choices OK anyway?
