I received a nice old straight razor (my first) that has a striking charcoal gray patina on the blade and contrasting cream colored scales. I had planned to polish the blade and use it but it looks really nice as is. Is there any benefit to the patina? Rust prevention? It's so even it seems almost a shame to restore it. I am thinking if just honing it and using it like it is.

Remove patina or not?
