I recently made the switch from cartridge razors on over to the DE safety razor side of the fence. Good night nurse! Prior to, I only 'thought' I was getting close shaves. The resulting shaves I'm now getting are BBS each and every time. This, coupled with the entire 'experience' of shaving proper has now made what was once a chore into something seriously relaxing and enjoyable.
I've read where they say switching to a safety razor will save one money in the long run for you'll no longer be paying for overpriced cartridges. Yeah, I reckon I can see that. But, as with anything folks are passionate about, I don't think I'll be falling into that category; doing it to save some coin. Thus far, I've 'collected' at least 8 safety razors, a dozen or more creams, tubs, pre this and post that, a few bowls, about 4 brushes, some stands, and a couple of scuttles. LOL My wife looks at me, rolls her eyes, and likens my newfound obsession with both my motorycyle, cigar, and pipe collections. :)
Prior to my registering on this site today, I've been a lurker and have learned a great deal from the participating members of the site. I hope that in turn, I too, will be able to contribute a thing or two to the forums.
I can't believe that I have been missing the boat on the joys, benefits, and pure pleasure of wet safety razor shaving. For any lurkers who might be reading this and who are on the fence about leaving the cartridge world - DO IT! DO IT NOW!!! You'll NEVER want to go back.
