I shaved today with a beautiful nearly mint Gillette Diplomat made in the 2nd quarter of 1956. I was curious after seeing a few posts regarding comparisons between Diplomats vs. Aristocrats vs. Fat Boys, etc. I must say, it provided me a very nice smooth and comfortable DFS. However like most vintage Gillette razors with the exception of old type open combs, it "isn't aggressive enough for me to use an an every day shaver". I did find the Diplomat more pleasant than my Fat Boy for some reason (maybe the full length knurling?) and it is certainly a brilliant thing to look at, but it will probably stay in the "collection" and not in the regular rotation.
