When I first started using the R41 I very consciously used a very shallow angle (its a beast dont you know?).
After a while I started to just feel the angle and enjoy the shave.
I think most new DE shavers get nicks and cuts from over thinking and nervousness.
Just like driving a stick shift eventually you quit thinking about it and just drive.
The R41 is now my daily razor and gives me a great shave without worry.
So recently Ive been reading threads that discuss the best angle for the R41 (shallow/steep).
Like all shave topics this seems fraught with YMMV and absolute certitude that the other side doesnt know how to shave.
So now that Im a comfortable daily R41 shaver Ive tried to analyze how I use the razor.
Do I settle into the shallow or steep camp??
Well just to irritate both camps .
I now declare that the R41 is an adjustable razor!
Yes you followers of shallow vs. steep miss the whole point.
The large blade gap that the R41 provides allows shallow, in-between, and steep angles.
The shaver can rotate the head for variable aggression at will!
This is something you cant do with a milder razor with a narrow blade gap.
Milder razor have only one angle and you use it or dont cut anything.
With the R41 I usually start somewhere in the middle of the range and back off (go shallow) in delicate areas,
and open up (go steep) in areas where I can safely mow down stubble.
Again apologies to zealots who will totally disagree with me (but youre wrong).
The R41 can be all razors to all shavers and can rotate on a whisker!
