For those of you who read my earlier thread, here, thanks for the feedback and reassurance. I think I'm getting better. It occurred to me that I may want to try bowl lathering a soap with a boar brush, just to see what happens. Now, I was able to get nice bowl lathers from soaps using my nice Silvertip and my CH2 in Super, and the boar I tried was a HUGE success:
It seems that the boar hairs not only do a great job of digging in to the soap and loading it into the bristles, but when I'm bowl lathering, the added agitation from the stiff boar bristles enables me to produce quite a luxurious lather. The brush I'm using here is a Semogue 1460 with a puck of EJ Sandalwood soap. The bowl is a Captain's Choice lather bowl. Excellent results all around.
