Boy that's a darn good title...even if I do say so myself.
Here's my key to discovering the perfect shave.
In October, 2010 I tired of haphazard shaves from a variety of electric shavers.
I went to DE.
I bought a Muhle R41 Razor and a variety of sample blades from Fendrihan's....a Canadian shaving supply company.
I think I had about 10 different brands of DE blades. I tried them all and kept fastidious score.
I developed and used criteria to determine...things such as durability, close shave, smooth shave, subjective impression, etc....were used to assess. I tested and retested.
After much exhaustive testing and documenting, over a period of about 6 months, I came to a conclusion.
Feather DE blades won out by a large margin.
I also tested a variety of shaving crèmes and soaps. The winner was Body Shop Shaving Crème.
I tested brushes....both boar and badger variety. Surprisingly, a boar brush won...can't recall the brand, but it's made in Italy.
The only DE Razor I've tested or ever used is my Muhle R 41.
I shave with the grain, against the grain and do a sideway pass. Three passes.
I shave only after a hot shower and I rub the shaving crème in multi directions.
For touch ups around areas that I don't want to risk a cut...I use either a Gillette Mach 111 or a Bic...disposable razors. I also use some electric razors to pass over the mouth area.
That's it. Never timed it, but I imagine 10 minutes would be the approximate time I spend on shaving.
That's my perfect shave...what's yours ?
