I have very thick hair, so I've always worn it pretty short. I've pretty much had the same fade haircut since middle school, but I'm trying to grow it out on top a little. For the past few years, I've found that a matte, strong-hold product has worked well for my shorter hair, and I've just gotten it cut when it got too long and thick.
So here's the question... If I'm growing my hair out and am looking for more of a slicked-back look (but healthy, not crunch), should I be looking for a product with less hold, like a pomade or cream? I'd like my hair to stay in place, but I'd also like to be able to run my fingers through my hair throughout the day (because, well, I do that out of habit). I'm also looking for something that doesn't contain petroleum or parabens.
Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
