I would like to offer up a 3”, double-sided, genuine horsehide leather strop with white webbing. Every piece of leather on this strop is heavy, #1 grade, genuine latigo-type dark chocolate horsehide leather. The strop is a modular design that is assembled with 17 Chicago screws that will allow you to replace damaged leather or webbing. The main stropping pieces are patterned after Straight Razor Design™ blanks. So, if at some time you want to try a different fabric or felt, it will be easy to replace. I am not a leather craftsman, but a straight razor user who couldn’t find what they wanted so I went out and got the materials to make what I wanted. In order to get high quality horsehide leather, you have to by a whole side at one time. So, I figured I would make all the strops I could, keep a couple and sell the rest.
The stropping area measures a full 3” by 16 ½” inches and is paired with a web strop for removing post shave moisture. This strop is made to last a lifetime and it composed of a very heavy 10 -12 oz. horsehide (about the same width as two quarters stacked together). The hide seems to provide a light to medium draw and it will only get better as the oils from your hand, and use, break in the leather. Most high end strop makers recommend rubbing the leather with your hands to let the natural oils in your skin condition the leather.
