It’s been a learning adventure with straights, but it’s time to make room for some more. All of these are shave ready and finished on either a Coti or a Thuri by others more proficient on hones than me. I’m hoping to use the sale to purchase some hones and begin yet another AD.
Henkels Twin (no number) with inlaid scales 5/8 – This is another great shave from a renowned Solingen shop. There was some light surface rust that cleaned up nicely, but there remains a faint spider web on the front of the blade. Scales are in great shape and this is a very comfortable shave. $80
Sold: Dubl Duck Goldedge Pearlduck 5/8 – very, very clean with good, straight scales and good inlays. This is an unbelievable shave that lives up to the legend. $125
Sold: Eclipse (Boker brand name) with worked spine, Spanish point, and ornate scales 6/8 – I love the scales on this unique piece, though not ivory, horn, or bone they are truly fantastic. This is one of a kind. I searched the web for it and found only one reference, but learned that it is a trade name of Boker and made by them. $150 (its Boker cousin sold elsewhere for $213 recently).
SPF: Barhep Solingen 5/8 – I bought this for $35 early in my learning curve and it put me on the road to RAD. It looks harmless enough, but it does something once acquired. Nothing extraordinary, but a well-balanced, Solingen blade that will serve for a lifetime. Until it requires a new friend in the den. $35 but I warned you, it will cost you more than you know down the road.
America’s Best 5/8 – don’t underestimate this one. It has a diamond shaped spine, a round point, and an unblemished complexion. Think of this as a FIFA World Cup American special that doesn’t bite. (Did you notice how cheaply I’m letting those German razors go?) $50
MH Christensen 6/8 – I picked this one out of the lineup because it shares my Great Grandfather’s last name. That’s cool, but it’s just larger than I want to use in my small rotation and I found another Christensen in 5/8 that I want to pick up (more my style). $50
