I've been wet shaving(mug & brush) for all my shaving years and have been using a DE for about 4 years now. I have a full beard and only shave my neck, and I typically shave every other day. My primary hardware is an old type ball end open comb and an EJ 89, with a '38-41 fat handle tech on standby. I have several brushes including an AoS Fine, Simpson Case in Best and Special in Pure. I primarily use an ER C40 with a pure knot from TGN. Here are my questions:
1. I find that my open comb is far more comfortable to shave with and I believe that it is due to the heavier 2-day growth. Is it common thought on this board that open combs are better for longer stubble?
2. Since I am only shaving my neck, I'm more partial towards my smaller loft brushes that are somewhat stiff and have some backbone. I feel that the AoS acts more like a paintbrush when applying lather to my neck and does not "neck-lather" as well as some of my smaller in size and loft brushes. I enjoy my Special and my old Burma Shave boar but seem to always pick my big badgers in full bloom. What brush recommendations would be the best fit for an every-other-day neckshaver?
3. Should I purchase a Parker 24C?
All Enablers welcome!
