I've been suffering from a mild case of HAD lately and been taking some risks on mystery hones. The first one turned out to be a very coarse Norton oil stone for which I really have no use and the second one is a mystery synth that might be ok for bevel setting, but it's not what I'd hoped it was.
Then this one arrived. I was pretty sure it was a translucent arkie from the pics, but it was impossible to tell the condition. How flat was it and were there significant chips? It's impossible to tell you how pleased I was when it arrived and found it was a barely used, perfectly flat and chip free vintage trans arkie. A couple of days soaking in Simple Green and it's oil free as well.
It's the largest vintage I own so far, 8x2. Frankly, I didn't think it was worth the effort looking for one as there were very few vintage ones sold compared to the 4x2 and 6x2 and the most recent one I saw went for hundreds of dollars. This one was mislabeled, however, and genuinely qualifies as a steal.
Forgive the brag thread, but I couldn't resist. This one has redeemed the other two.
Here's a pic of the working side. Had some oil on it but that came right off:

The back side with the glue remaindered from when it was in the box:

And here it is posing with its stablemates. Two other vintage translucents. I love the color differences. It would be great to get a rose one someday.
