Okay, so I've started using my straight razor for shaves (stropping in between). I can tell it's starting to drag and needs to be sharpened. I need to buy a new setup for honing the razor. I noticed I can get a Norton Waterstone beginner kit (220/1000, 4000/8000, and lapping stones) or I can get the Naniwa Value pack (5000/8000/12000) and a lapping stone. If I purchase a 12000 grit stone to go with the Norton kit the price is just about the same for both sets. Can anyone give me the pros and cons of the two different brands?
I'm pretty sure I understand what the differing stone grits are used for--I'm looking more at value/ease of use for a beginner/durability/etc...
Thanks!
