For the life of me, I can't figure out where I got this recipe. I have so many books about home recipes for body care, or I might have gotten it off the internet, but here it is ...
4 oz vodka
4 oz witch hazel
1 tsp or tbsp glycerin ( I can't remember which) I don't think it makes much of a difference anyway
1 12 inch sprig of fresh rosemary (I grow my own and I have a bush so big I'll never run out)
The zest from one entire orange skin
1 cinnamon stick
12 whole cloves
5 drops sweet orange essential oil
5 drops lemon essential oil
Crumble all ingredients in a glass bottle
shake once a day
At the end of two weeks you strain off the liquid
You are left with an 8 ounce bottle of delightful aftershave that will cost you less than $2. You can brew up a few quarts of this stuff and then either save up hot sauce bottles, go to flea markets or buy appropriate perfume bottles - you bottle it and give it away as presents. It's very Christmasy, so you will be a hero around Christmastime when you give bottles of it away. It's very masculine but women seem to like it too. The rosemary and witch hazel make it healing for all kinds of skin abrasions so I wouldn't hesitate to use it as an occasional deodorant, after shave, cologne or general pick me up.
Give it a try. It might turn out to be your favorite. It has no toxic chemicals or artificial perfumes.
