I have a guy at work, who always complains about his shaves (and uses a Fusion thingy, or something like that). He only shaves once a week, and often complains about ingrown hairs and irritation. AFAIK he spends a ton on cartridges (buying Fusions online), but he says money is not an objection to him.
I've mentioned DE shaving to him a few times, but I don't want to push it. Especially not since I personally don't know the learning curve, never having used modern cartridges or shaving gels / dry shaving. I fear that, with the typical shaving habits of many modern shavers (so I hear), I'll send him to a bloody disaster :001_huh:
A colleague of mine uses straights, and also has mentioned to him a few times that a good soap and brush make a difference. But the message doesn't seem to "land". I think the guy just never learned how to shave properly. From what he tells me, he has no technique at all, and also does not understand anything about beard growth direction, or "letting the razor do the work".
Complicating; he is of Carribean origin, with dark curly hair, while I am as Northern European as can be.
I've been thinking about giving him a starter kit some time, but I have no idea about the learning curve, or about specific complications for his skin and hair type. Besides, if he is shaving once a week, with a Fusion and canned stuff, and pressing hard on his skin, I fear that a DE razor will only act as a cheese grater for him. And I think he hasn't held a shaving brush in his whole life.
Any advice? We're not that close that I would feel comfortable giving him "shaving lessons" :wink2:
