Hey brothers!
I'll start off with the WTT - I'll put it at the top in case you get bored. I have an ATT R2 plate that I would like to trade, straight up, for an H2 plate. Also, I've officially failed out of the sabbatical, but Mrs. chamm still has my spending on a tight leash. I still have a few barely used netbooks I'm looking to trade. They mostly sat in boxes for the last two years, losing value. They're all relatively good performers, and if you need something with a battery that lasts for 6-10 hours, they're great. Perfectly capable for email, web browsing, document creation, etc. If I don't trade them, Mrs. chamm is going to make me put them on eBay, except I don't get to keep the money! Needless to say, I'd rather trade them for shaving gear. They're worth between $150 and $250 (depending on specifics) on eBay, and I'll make some generously lopsided trades if you have anything I'm interested in. Specifically, I'm looking for an Ikon Slant, (head or complete razor) an ATT Kronos handle, just about any nice brush and a beginner's straight razor strop. I can also be tempted by anything that's a little unusual or off the beaten path.
Now, for the good stuff:
I haven't posted in the hobbyist thread in a while. I got a bit sidetracked with an unexpected job search, but that ended well, and I'm officially back in action. I just finished up a couple pieces for some brothers on the forum. Digitaldome graciously allowed me to post a couple pictures of the rack I made for him:
You can check out quite a few more images over at The Crafty Badger. I'm just getting started on two blanks made from zebrawood and jatoba. If you'd like a rack built to your specifications, (for example, if you have a large brush) NOW is the time to act! Once I start the process of making the wood into a rack, I can't cut or change the spacing of the pegs.
Also, I have two that are completed and ready to ship in jatoba. (Brazilian cherry) Jatoba looks similar to American cherry, but comes from an unrelated species. The wood is very dense and finishes beautifully. Also, like American cherry, it will darken over time, more so when exposed to light.
These pieces are quite nice, and should prove to be extremely durable.
Jatoba (Brazilian Cherry) - $73
Jatoba (Brazilian Cherry) - $78
Each piece is individually numbered, and I can assure you that each piece was made with great care and patience. I use slow-curing urethane oils and everything is sanded and finished by hand. On these premium razor racks, no staining is needed, and the natural beauty of the woods shows through.
I have access to a great variety of woods, so if you want a specific look, check out The Crafty Badger. On the front page is a matrix of some woods and prices, all hyperlinked to The Wood Database. Keep in mind that the prices do tend to fluctuate, and my finished price is based only on my cost. My (meager) profit is the same regardless of which wood I use; my primary motivation is to make sure you are happy with the end product.
As always, I welcome all questions, comments, criticisms or concerns. I'm always happy to hear from my brothers (and sisters) at B&B. You can send me a PM, or you can email me at craig@thecraftybadger.com.
Take care, all, and have a great week!
