I wondered what the OC fuss was about (more aggressive than a safety bar, not as aggressive; smoother shave,rougher shave; more razor burn, less razor burn), so ordered the M2 head from ATT and tried the first shave this morning: Treet blade, TOBS Sandalwood and AS balm. What I learned was that it's very similar to a safety bar, but you can get a closer shave with fewer passes. And that you need to pay closer attention. You really do. And that with an OC, any small blemishes or raised areas (previous razor bumps for example), will potentially be surgically removed (presumably without a solid bar to flatten the skin ahead of the stroke). So the OC definitely has a place among my shaving hardware, and I'll use it if I skip a few days of shaving, but I can't see it as my daily go-to razor since I shave at least once a day, and find I get slightly more irritation with the OC. Great smooth shave, higher sustained concentration, potential for more skin damage with small areas of unprotected blade riding directly over your face. YMMV. A lot.
