I'm a fan of romantic comedies. I find some of the old ones from the 1930's such as Libeled Lady...starring Myrna Loy and William Powell....and The Awful Truth....starring Cary Grant and Irene Dunne are wonderfully written, well cast and that the lead characters have a rare screen commodity....chemistry.
However we don't see that kind of movie....made much anymore. Now I will admit there have been a couple of modern romantic comedies, that in my august opinion are close....very close to the quality of the previously mentioned 1930's movies.
They are As Good as it Gets....and You've got Mail. Think both of them may have had the hand of Nora Ephron involved and she was a rare talent.
Two questions .
Why do quality romantic comedies such as these four...seem to be rarely made ?
Am I missing any excellent romantic comedies made since 2000 ?
P.S....Jim...I hope this thread goes better than my last movie thread. I took your advice. :001_smile
