Hey guys,
I bought my first straight razor today and as my post title says, it's a high carbon steel traditional japanese blade.
I was wondering, do some of you have experience maintaining such a blade?

I discussed at length with an employee of the small artisan shop (I was lucky the shop had a french speaking employee) and aside from keeping the blade completely dry and away from humidity when stored, he mentioned that honing on a 8K stone every couple of months (I only shave 2-3 times a week) should do the trick. Apparently stropping is not very common in Japan.
Any thoughts guys? I would very much like to keep this blade a looooong time!
Thanks in advance.
Hugo
