Just to say hi.
I have been wet shaving for fourty years, using triple or whatever blades the past few years. When my razor mysteriously disappeared I picked up my old one (Gillette Adjustable Slim) again and found that it wasn't so bad. Decided to do a bit of "research" which just about amounts to a one way ticket to this forum. Contrary to what I usually read I can't say I have found DE shaving better. More time consuming to get the same result (which I don't mind, it's one of these valuable moments to myself). Cheaper, yes, although I would use multiple blades for about two months. But reading what people on this forum think and feel about different razors and blades has been an education, so thank you all for that!
I have started experimenting with different soaps (no discernible differences so far) and blades (with differences big enough to develop a preference for Personna Red, more brands to be tried). After using a (meaning one and the same) boar brush for twenty years I tried a badger (picked up five pure badger ones made by Muhle for 5 euro). Nice brush, bit prickly, dries faster, holds lots of lather). Tried a synthetic one (Bluebeard's Revenge) and found it useless. I should have read the posts on this forum first, then I would have picked a Muhle v2. I'll probably add a new boar brush, and out of curiosity a horse hair one. Also an open comb razor as I'm not satisfied with my shaves, so far. Trouble might be my beard though, with hair going in pretty much every direction.
On a personal, introductory, note: Dutch, 56, children, dogs and cats, ducks and chickens. Profession: docter
