Ken sent me a tub of his Natchez Trace soap along with the Paladin 47 brush I won in the Sue Moore auction.
Whenever I try a new soap, I use that soap for four days in a row and use a different brush each day and both bowl and face lather with the soap. I used the same method with this soap.
First, the soap is not as hard as many tallow soaps and is not as soft as softer soaps such as Cella. This is what the soap looks like after it was used a few days in a row.

When I opened the soap and even after I used it a few times, the scent was very subtle - something I prefer. My nose - although large, according to my wife - does not pick up every scent but to me the soap has a pleasant citrus scent.
I used the following brushes with the soap: Uomo daVinci 293 badger, Remembering Sue boar, Rooney 1/3, and Simpson Duke 3. All brushes worked great making lather.
I prefer a wetter, slicker lather than perhaps some. Also, I do not bloom my soaps. My results are based on my preferences.
First, it took less than 30 seconds to load the brush and have enough lather for a four pass face shave. I tend to load my brush less than most folks and then I go back to the puck for five or six swirls usually for my final pass. However, with this soap, one or two swirls was more than sufficient. After shaving my face, I added a little more soap to shave my head with a three pass shave. The lather I got from this soap is slick and provides a very comfortable shave. I found it easy to make lather both in face and bowl lathering.
To me, this soap is quite unique and I can't say it reminds me of any other brand of soap. And, I have quite a few soaps in my rotation.
When this soap is released to the public I believe it will be met with success. Paladin Shaving has some very unique shaving brushes and now they have an excellent, unique shaving soap.
