The Dorco PL602 double-edge safety razor is a plastic, two-piece, inexpensive razor made in Vietnam for Dorco, a South Korean company. The razor is packaged with two Dorco Platinum ST300 blades, which are also made in Vietnam.
After realizing that I needed to move on from the Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements (PAA) Double Open Comb (DOC) Satin double-edge safety razor, my first DE razor, I wanted to try something very low-priced so that I wouldn't be upset if it didn't work out. I had read good things about the Dorco PL602, specifically that it (a) is designed very well, (b) is made consistently, (c) provides smooth, comfortable shaves, and (d) works really well as a travel razor with respect to clearing TSA and being inexpensive. On July 8th, I received the bundle of two of these razors that I had purchased through eBay for $5.18 with free shipping. I proceeded to take photographs and measure masses and lengths. A Wilkinson Sword blade was used for all pictures and measurements that involved a blade since that is the blade that I've been using for my photo analyses due to the 22.0 mm blade width, as best as I can currently measure and verify on the Internet.
Masses and lengths for the Dorco PL602 razor (with or without a Wilkinson Sword blade):
* Mass of Razor with Blade = 12.61 g
* Mass of Razor without Blade = 12.02 g
* Center of Mass of Razor with Blade from Top of Handle = 1.07 cm (0.42 in.)
* Length of Razor with Blade = 11.12 cm (4.38 in.)
* Length of Handle = 8.48 cm (3.34 in.)
As indicated by the picture below of the back of the packaging material, the top cap unscrews from the base-plate-handle combination piece by turning the handle. No matter the choice of blade, the blade is automatically loaded fairly symmetrically by the Dorco PL602. The razor is well-designed, as I had read. There are small tightly fitting support pieces that first hold the blade in position on the base plate, as shown in a picture below, and then the blade is further symmetrically loaded and held in place by a centrally located support piece on the top cap, as shown below, when the top cap is screwed into position. Pictures of the shave plane and the top view show that the blade reveal is indeed uniform across the edge and identical or nearly identical for the two sides. The last picture shows that the plastic handle is hollow.

With general photos and measurements covered here, I will eventually analyze and report on dimensions taken from close-up photos down the blade edge, including blade exposure, guard span, and blade angle. I will also discuss my opinion of the Dorco PL602 based on my shaving experience with it and how I believe the measured dimensions relate to my opinion.
