I had a Semogue 1305 that I liked very much, but (as is apparently standard for this handle) it didn't take long for the paint to start chipping off. And this, just about the time it was nicely broken in and really hitting its stride. Eventually it became pretty ratty looking and wasn't seeing much use. Eyeing it recently on the shelf, I was reminded of how much I liked its performance, so I decided to do something for its appearance. This ER 300 Lucite had been rolling around in the drawer for awhile and, after sizing it up, I decided it would make a good new home for the Semogue. So, I "harvested" the knot from the Semogue and reset it into the ER handle. As a result, I've rekindled my friendship with the Semogue; it really is a stellar performer. And I do like vintage Lucite, so this turns out to be a win-win.
Also, I added a little custom touch. The base on the ER had separated from the ferrule, so before I reassembled them, I "installed" one of my favorite flies. You dry fly guys will recognize the Royal Stimulator.
