Yesterday I acquired a few gems from a friend who's been smoking since the mid sixties. I've smoked some really great stuff with this gent over the past few years, and yesterday we were pokin' through some of his stashed-away boxes and found a jar of McClelland 2010 from 1991. We popped that bad boy open and smoked a fantastic bowl while I listened to some pretty great stories. After the smoke, we went back and started opening more boxes. There was one that had a bunch of mostly empty tins, and tons of dried out odds and ends. He gave me a couple of old empties, then we did some horse tradin' for a few gems that I really hope will come back from the dead.
Today I went back for some more horse trading and ended up with the rest of the '91 2010, which was 9 oz., plus 12 oz. of McC 2035 from 1985 and 4 oz. of Dunhill Light Flake from 1979. They're all pretty dry, but the Dunhill is crispy.. I figured it was worth the risk, though. All three were in jars, but I brought them home in ziplock bags and they're now rehydrating in bowls.
The first tin that I'm gently rehydrating actually smells fantastic! It's a 1oz tin of Loewe & Co. Golden Horn, and it's bone dry, but still very fragrant. I have absolutely no idea how old this is, but I'm guessing it's from the late sixties, or early seventies.
