Gentlemen,
I discovered B&B while researching DE shaving. I went to the grocery store a month ago to re-stock my fusion blades and paid $40 for a package of eight! So, I found that DE blades cost anywhere from 10¢ to 25¢ each, and the blades last as long as the five bladed monstrosities. So, I hit the 'net and found B&B. Based on my research I bought (through Amazon) a Merkur 34C HD and my lovely daughter bought me a Christmas present of a 100 DE blade sample pack. My first DE shave was Sunday night and all went well.
I've been using multi-blade razors since my senior year in high school back in the late 70s. Seven or so years ago I was in the Galleria Mall in Dallas and saw an Art of Shaving retail store. I was interested and left with pre-shave oil, cream, after-shave balm (all lavender), and a pure badger brush. AoS also threw in a proper shave in their barber chair (which was very cool!). That was my break from grocery store shaving, although, I was still using multi-blade razors. Being a creature of habit, I replaced my AoS stuff with AoS stuff, which I liked. But last month I got brave and replaced AoS stuff with Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood Cream, TOBS after-shave gel, and TOBS Sandalwood pre-shave oil. Today I ordered a replacement my aging but able AoS pure badger brush with a best badger Simpson Commodore X3.
So, there you go. I'll never be a great collector of shave items, but I do enjoy the ritual, and I'm certain I'll more actively try new things. I enjoy the forum, and thanks for the good information.
