Been wet shaving for a couple of weeks and thought I should check in. My name is Tom and I used to shave with a Schick Injectable beginning in the late 1960s. Currently I have a Schick Krona, EJ89 Burly, Weishi 9306FL, and a Gillette Tech all of which I have shaved with. I like the EJ89 and Krona the best. I have some Arko, VDH Deluxe and Marvey soap an a VDH Boar brush and cheap badger brush.
I have been generating some pretty good lather with my 3 soaps and am looking forward to getting some different soaps for more variety. I have had several BBS shaves but also 3 or 4 nicks and some weepers but nothing that a styptic pencil could not take care of in short order. I would like to purchase an Omega 48 or 49 boar brush and either a Whipped Dog or Stirling synthetic brush in the near future.
I forgot how refreshing wet shaving can be. I used to use bath soap as lather in the shower with the 3 and 5 blade Gillette disposables which got me out the door and off to work quickly. My main concentration in the next 30 days or so is to work on my technique. I am retired now and not pressed for time so I can have nice relaxed shaves that take as long as I want.
I am a Vietnam Veteran (Helicopter Pilot) and will make a post in the Veteran forum a little later.
I enjoy the site but still have a lot of reading to do yet.:001_smile
