I started my DE shaving a few weeks ago. I'd like to know how many smooth shaves can I expect from a blade?
I have Shark blades, a Gillette Super Speed, and WetShaveObsession (etsy) soap. The blade is stored out of the razor. Granted leg shaving is a lot more area than a man would have to cover, but after 4 shaves, I am noticing a change in performance.
I learned to shave my legs on a DE and have been very dissatisfied with the multi-blade shavers that are out now. My very first shave wasn't even with the good soap, but I really loved the glasslike smoothness (compared to the plastic razors).
After reading the soap reviews, I wanted Spencer and Devon, but they are not manufacturing at this time. Maybe late summer they will have them out again. I got the WetShaveObsession on etsy because I could read ALL of the ingredients. Emollients, clay, and the scent is wonderful. Yeah, it's a man's fragrance, but I love it. Somethingorother vanilla. I didn't want it to smell like vanilla, and it doesn't.
All that being said, the less-than-flawless shave with the DE is still better than one with a new Venus.
