I know this gets posted a lot but since my experience and tastes with various blades throughout the year changes, I assume yours might as well.
What's your top five most used DE blades this year?
Based off some of the blade wars by cw62803, I've tried a couple new ones. My beard growth is light but coarse.(does that exist?)
1. Gillette 7OC yellow (sharp edge)
Still holds top spot for my beard growth and daily razor combo, but just barely. Sharp and pretty smooth, longevity short for me.
2. Personna med preps
I'm in the minority probably? but I have found a difference in these compared to lab blues. Placebo effect? Maybe. Regardless, sharp and smooth. Smoother than yellows above to me and keeps edge longer. (Than why are they not the top spot? I dunno.). Pricey for blades.
3. PolSilver SIs.
Awesome. I may like these better than the two above. The seem very very similar to med preps in sharp/smooth category, but I'm a little more prone to irritation with them. Might be more on the razor/blade combo than anything else. Bought s slew of them for cheap on Amazon a few months back.
4. GSBs.
Nothing really needed to say. Great blade, a tiny bit rough on first stroke with a new blade (to me). They should be higher than fourth place but I just tend to enjoy the yellows, personas, and polsilvers better.
5. Astra SP.
a go to blade for me. Not as nice as the top four but will likely always be a mainstay. Great blade for super cheap
As a side, I know many enjoy feathers but I have to pair them with a mild razor such as my Muhle R89 or Merkur 34C otherwise it's a bit rough. Sharpest blade I've tried though and I want to like them more but they haven't yet cracked my top five.
Others I've yet to try that many love - personna reds, Kai, Bolzano, Russian Gillette greens. Oh and I dislike Derbys.
