How much AS sting is normal?

I put this here because this invoves technique and result at least.

I've been at this only about 4 weeks now. Did cart wet shaving for the last 30+ years. Always had great amounts of sting when I applied the Aqua Velva.

My question is as a DE noob - if I get a close shave (DFS) with no nicks, bumps or razor burn redness but some decent sting when applying AS - is that normal? What does it tell me I need to improve upon?

I'm already working on applying as little pressure as I can. Right now I'm using a NEW LC with Voskhod blades.
