no the razor is not the problem, it is you being new to wet shaving. Yes the Futur is not a good beginner razor because it is heavy and aggressive as it comes on level 1.
My first razor was not the Futur but the replica one, when I first got it I though it sucked because same as the future it has the same issues of blade gap etc etc
I put it aside and played with other milder razors and then I came back to it, guess what? now that I'm more experienced I shave with it not on #6 but on #10 because the replica can go to infinity it does not stop at 6 lol.
Anyways the same problem you have is the same problem I had, too much pressure and you don't know how to curve your wrist when going around the jaw lines or in general yes too much pressure. Pressure is the key because I never cared for the angle I hold the razor, I always shave with aggressive angle and an aggressive razor, but what really matters is the pressure and with time you will get it.
Also before you buy another razor I would recommend you to get smooth forgiving blades but yet sharp, Voskhod are the blades to go with they are sharp which will cut trough you stubble easy and they are smooth which wont irritate you like other blades and they are cheap too, also very similar to the Voskhods are the Rapira Swedish Super Steel and they are also dirt cheap, booth brands are Russian blades but very praised.
If you do want to buy another razor and put the Futur aside temporarily then this would be a great razor: it is all brass, TTO, Medium/High Agressivness and cheap too http://ift.tt/1TUXBWf
Recommend a second razor please
