Finally got my GD in the mail. Spent a few hours reworking up the edge with what I learned from the honing videos and hopefully have it smooth and sharp enough using my w/d papers that I use for my leather knives. I start at 2k new grit paper on my marble slab and then progress through paper that has been used longer and longer in the rotation. Working up to 4k and then through the older, well used 4k grit paper. The oldest stuff has been used many, many, many times and it really just puts a fine polish on it. I made a strop out of 10/12oz vege tanned leather and gave it a good strop as well. It easily passes the hanging hair test.
Going to just take it slow and learn something new.
Here goes my first shave with a straight!
