I'd say it really depends on your synthetic. Which ones do you have? If you have one of the slivertip fiber, then probably not. Different though. Although I've heard the the Mühle synthetic has a bit of backbone, you'd get more from a boar brush. A little prickliness too, possibly, but that's it.
What I like about boars, is how you have to season them over time. You get them and they're terrible. But slowly you see them evolve. If you happy with a higher grade synthetic, I don't see what you'd get from the boar (except for additional scrubbing effect).
BTW: never got a synthetic, I like that the boar is natural too much to get a synthetic brush. Which, do we know what silvertip fibre is made from? Is it a petrol by-product of some sort?
