I just joined this evening to compliment the group. I have learned so much lurking here.
Current status:
I've been struggling with my upper lip. I just can't get close unless I go against the grain (ATG?), but when I do I get a rash. I have a slow growing beard and get away with shaving every other day in an office setting. I've been working through a puck of Col. Conk's bay rum, which smells great, while reading and watching videos. As that bar was winding down, I started in depth researching soaps. You guys have great threads about soaps and I loved reviews about and the reaction to Tabac. It sounded like a great soap, but maybe a wicked smell. My wife is one of those people who smells everything and she can be particular about smells. The bar of Tabac arrived a few days ago and I found out how good it lathers up, how slick it was and how much I love the smell. I still got a tiny bit of upper lip rash and will verify that next time I am not applying pressure (old habits are hard to break) later this week.
Great web site and I really appreciate all of the guidance and help you have provided!!! I'll be posting in "blades" soon, as I have some questions. I put together a sampler package and am working from my initial purchase of Wilkinson, now into the sampler, starting with Derby and heading to Feather.
Oh, background info. I am using a older Gillette hand-me-down razor which is in good shape and a newly rebuilt Rubberset -203- vintage brush. It was rebuilt with a three band silvertip knot. I have about been DE'ing for about 2 months.
Thanks again,
Jack
p.s. - The best part of Tabac.. . . . . . .my wife LOVES the smell.
