First, let me apologize if I am doing this in the wrong forum or if things like this are not allowed (and for the book this may be long). I have looked at this site on and off for a couple of years, this has always been a hobby that I wanted to get into but just haven't. I recently found out about the store Maggard Razors and it rekindled my interest.
One of the things that kind of turned me off was not being able to get my hands on razors, soaps, creams and accessories because there weren't any stores that stocked this type of thing near me. When I found out Maggard Razors was in SE Michigan near me I was intrigued, so I decided to spend a couple hours with my 4 year old and take a visit.
So basically I am the epitome of a newbie and the folks at the store not only took their time to run through a whole host of brushes but also to explain the difference between grades.
Better than that though, is they allowed my 4 year old son to peruse the store, smell the creams and soaps and generally do things 4 year olds do. No only did they tolerate it but they also took some time out to show my son how to strop a straight razor.
Best of all, my son had mentioned to me how he really liked the gold DE's and that they were probably something that he needed to shave his whiskers. As I was checking out with all of my new goodies, Brad mentioned to my son how he had something special for him. He gave my son an old gold colored Gillette DE.
So from a dad that loves his kid, I really appreciated the way that they made my son feel special. On the way home from the shop he couldn't wait to get home and try his bladeless razor out. I have a feeling that this will be a common bond that we share as he grows older and really appreciate the way that they fostered it.
They will have a customer (and maybe two) for life and I wanted to share with this community because I don't think that good customer service is rewarded and praised enough.
So again, forgive me for the length and if I am doing something wrong, I just wanted to share with this community and hopefully pay them back for the kindness they showed to a complete stranger and his kid.
