I've been wet shaving for about 4 years. I'm not at your 5+ year mark, but I'm still learning new things all the time. I've been doing a lot more experimenting with my routine, with different razors and blades, different soaps and creams, etc. finally, and it seems like there's always something new to learn about my technique. Just about a week ago I finally bothered to find out what the heck a scuttle is, and now I have one. And now that I have one, I understand the benefit of owning one. And something as simple as warmer lather seemed to make a difference in how close and smooth my shave was. For the second time, I was able to get a BBS shave(99% anyway, I always have at least SOME tiny stubble I miss in certain areas) with just 2 passes and a very minimal amount of touch-up. Even if the warmer lather doesn't make the shave "better," at the very least, it feels a lot better than cold lather, so that's a bonus. I'm honestly surprised scuttles aren't more popular. Then again maybe my cheapskate ways just keep this house a little colder than most people like to keep their house in winter.
DE shavers 5 years + what are you still learning about DE shaving?
