I have been using this soap for a couple of weeks now and feel confident in sharing my opinion on this soap even if I can't pronounce the name. Overall, I am finding this new formulation to provide an overall wonderful shaving experience. I must qualify that I have soft water. I am also using a Weber PH razor, I bowl lather with only a damp brush, I load for about 40 seconds to assure enough soap for 4 passes adding a few drops of water at a time until I get my desired lather. I am currently using Gillette Silver Blues and a Razorback Piissoft synthetic brush.
Scent - A very enjoyable scent described as Leather, Tobacco Flower, Cedar, Anise, Oakmoss, and Patchouli. I am trying to think of anything similar out there and I think that it is a lot like Mickey Lee's Drunken Goat. It is a reasonably strong scent that seems to hang around during the shave. Rating - 9.0
Ingredients - This is a healthy soap with great ingredients featuring Bison Tallow. The included herbal ingredients are also included in their aftershaves. Rating - 10.0
Ingredients: Stearic Acid, Water, Potassium Hydroxide, Avocado Oil, Vegetable Glycerin, Bison Tallow, Mango Seed Butter, Castor Oil, Fragrance, Sodium Hydroxide, Lanolin, Bentonite Clay, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Fruit Extract, Salix Alba L. (White Willow) Bark Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbic Acid.
Lather - The soap lathers easily and seems not to be overly thirsty for a tallow soap. The lather has been extremely creamy, providing excellent protection. The cushion and glide are excellent. I always shoot for a 4 pass BBS shave and this soap allows that to happen, even with a lot of bare skin touch-up. The lather lasts well, even through my 20 minute 4 pass shave. Rating 9.5
Post Shave - I find this soap to give the best post-shave feeling of any of the tallow soaps I have used. Of course there are butters, oils, and soothing herbs so this would be expected. Rating 9.5
Overall Value - This soap is a little above average cost for artisan soaps at $18 + shipping. However, it is a great overall shaving experience and has been very enjoyable to use. Because of the overall quality, even with a higher price if feel I would give this soap an overall rating of 9.5.
