have been a long time lurker and decided to set up an account. I have been de shaving for about yr, before i was using electrics/carts and never happy with the results. I started with the merkur 34c and then got the slant 37c. Due to this i found i could get a closer shave but maybe i need to revist the 34c as i am not sure if it was my lather at the start which was not great or maybe to much pressure. I was getting good shaves with the 37c but it was still one day a good shave and the next time red raw.
I changed creams and started to use baxters of california which you didn't need to lather just apply with a brush. This helped a great deal but still have trouble with the neck as my hair grows sideways and it is hard to get bbs as it is an awkward angle to shave. The slant makes it slightly easier.
i then decided to get myself the oneblade. Now this is a great razor although it is expensive. Nice smooth shaves but i think i need to use the feather blade once and then throw as the second shave is not as good as the first. I also tried T&H 1805 shave cream which my face did not like. I think the cologne caused me irratation or maybe the lather was not great so i got rid of that and started with castle forbes lime. This is a nice cream and i use this or proraso green.
