Beginning of this year, I decided to give wet shaving a chance. I was so tired of buying those overpriced mach 3 razor cartridges ... it was time to put thought into action. So I googled everything from blades, DE razors, soaps, aftershaves, etc and etc ... which eventually led me here, there and everywhere on internet. My original plan was to find one DE razor, one blade and one soap .... keeping things simple and cheap. Like many of you I ended buying so many soaps, blades and a few DE razors. It ended up costing me MUCH MUCH more than the stupid mach 3 cartridges I was trying to control!!! To be honest, this has been quite fun tho ... I ended up turning a chore into a small hobby. And not so expensive hobby compared to many others I'd rather not mention. While my venture into wet shaving has been fun, I'm near completion of my original mission. I finally found my Razor and blade combo. However I'm still searching for that ONE soap that stands consistently above the rest. I've considered the Strop Shoppe soaps ... but they're outta business. Mike's soap is a consideration. Maybe even Tabac. Maybe a ten soap ... five soap rotational combo ... but the old school in me wants to keep things simple ... one razor, one blade and one soap ...
Is there even one soap out there that is considered the Gold standard of soaps? Should I deviate from my plan and adopt a 5 man soap rotation?
