The biggest myth ever is that wet-shaving saves you lots of money. It's true that those 4 dollar five-blade Gillette cartridges are a rip-off, but that's a murky baseline to begin with if I only cared about saving money, I'd just use Barbasol and BIC razors (which give me a pretty good shave).
If you join this hobby, you'll love it and you'll be addicted. You'll spend more money, and you won't regret it either.
If you stick with your basic kit: 1 brush, 1 soap, 1 razor and some blades for ~$50, you'll save money. But you won't. You'll experiment with many different blades. Then, you'll try different soaps. Then you'll upgrade your hardware and it'll cost hundreds. But it will be fun.
