I have two pre-war Gillette Techs. My first was a nickel plated Tech and is a favorite. Delivers smooth shaves. I added a brass one with a copper top plate. It shaves differently. Or rather, the razor feels different on my face. Like it's dragging slightly. I use a fairly shallow angle, so there is contact with the top plate.
Could the difference in metal: Copper vs Nickel, be enough to account for the way a razor shaves?
Admittedly I haven't used the brass/copper Tech as much as the nickel plated tech, so it could that on the day I am using the brass Tech my soap choice isn't providing a slick lather. But since it comes down to how the razor feels on my face, I'm leaning to the difference in materials.
