Greetings to you straight razor gents.
As a gift to my son, and to spend one last day with him as a single young man,( he is getting married on Friday). I took him to an old school barber shop for a straight razor shave and a hair cut. This a shop with good reviews and reputation. My last experience was 26 years ago while I was in the Army in Germany...amazing smooth shave.
Today, the hair cuts were exceptional, however, the shave was disappointing. Initially felt OK, other than some minor burn in a couple spots on my neck, but 30 minutes after we left it felt as if I had shaved the night before...pretty darn prickly. The barber did a WTG & XTG shave. Then when I arrived home my bride noticed I had a small cut in the crease of my earlobe. The barber has been working as a professional barber for four years.
Did my memory fail me or should I have expected more from a two pass straight shave?
