I've been looking for a Wilkinson Sword Sticky razor for quite a while and finally managed to get hold of this one for £30, which I thought a reasonable price. I was particularly pleased because the razor itself looks as if it's been used very little, if it all, although the box is a little scratched.
Apparently this razor was the brainchild of British designer Kenneth Grange, who also designed the UK's Intercity 125 locomotive and many other items. To me it looks very sleek, and it did win design awards, I believe. I'm not normally a fan of plastic in razors, but this doesn't feel at all cheap and brittle, but very solid and pleasing. The weight is around 52g. The TTO mechanism is very smooth, like a Brit Aristocrat, and the handle feel tacky when it gets wet, giving a reassuring grip.
It's said to be a mild razor, but I haven't yet tried it out to see. I'll pair it with some vintage Wilkie blades made in Sheffield and give it a couple of shaves over the next few days.
