After finding a brand new Gillette Super Blue Blade which has to date back at least 50-60 years, I figured I'd see how the old school blades performed....well.
Keeping in mind this was a brand new blade and stored out of harms way for who knows how many decades I can safety say,
It was the WORST shave I have had since I can remember!!!
I loaded this travesty of a blade into my Muhle R41 (2011) not really knowing what to expect. Whipped up a nice batch of Maca Root Cream (one of the slicker potions out there) and set out to get shed of a one-day growth. Afterwards I still had most of that same one-day growth.
I mean, this was like shaving with a popsicle stick, except the Gillette pulled and tugged more than the stick would have.
Now granted, I use straight razors regularly. There are however occasions I will use a DE; usually when I am traveling, in a hurry, or just lazy. My blades of choice are Astra SS (Blue package) and Feather. There are lots of other good ones out there I have also used-Personna, Gillette Silver Blue, Polsilver, Rockwell, and 7 O'Clock, all good stuff. Also have had the Derby, Dorco, Merkur, and Trig experience....not so good.
But even the worst modern day blade I have EVER used rises head and shoulders above this flash from the past.
After one shave I placed the blade back in the dispenser to be included in a PIF posted earlier. I'll let it simmer for a few days and pick a random winning number using one of those apps that do such things. Just go over to the other site where the PIF is and post the usual "I'm in" message.
Remember....it's your face. Use at your own risk
