I got a Divine Beauty shavette off of eBay quite cheap, as the company is brand new and trying to build a rep. Made in New York.
Anyways, I have been reading these forums for a while, so I know about using your left hand for the left side of your face, very light pressure, etc. I used my normal shaving routine, only changing up the razor and blade (a Treet Platinum).
Overall, it was a lot easier to shave with a shavette than I expected. I got a couple nicks, but that was when I was trying to go against the grain (and I know better, as I nick myself with my Merkur when I do this). I did not get as smooth a shave as my Merkur provides, but that is mainly due to how comfortable I am with my DE vs this blade.
Overall, I liked shaving with a shavette. I don't really care for the folding handle, as it was constantly in the way for vision and just trying to get angles. I suspect I'd be much happier with a kamisori-style razor (and I'm now much more likely to invest in a Feather SS).
For those worried about straights or shavettes, they aren't that bad. Just go slow and use minimal pressure, and it's not big deal.
First ever go-around with a shavette
