You mentioned the age of the cap, but that isn't necessarily relevant if the cap has seen little use.
If your ATT cap is rusting it is possibly due to residual tooling material left behind when the cap was machined. This is not uncommon...the tooling used to machine your head was not stainless. Micro bits of tooling are always left behind during the machining process. The rust you see isn't the head, its actually the residual tooling. Wipe it off with a cloth next time it happens. After a few times you should find the rust stops.
The other possibility is the blade you used. Was it a carbon steel blade like a Treet Black Beauty?
My guess is option 1 above. I ran into this with my S1. It in no way damages the head and after a couple uses and wipes with a cloth it was gone forever. I've used it almost every day for the past 5 months and not seen it reappear.
