A little late getting around to posting this but after 15 weeks of DE Shaving (25 weeks total wet shaving, I started with a M3 (Mach 3)) The EJ (Edwin Jagger) DEL8914BL with Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge (Yellow) blade has delivered a BBS shave!!
I used Proraso Red, Proraso Blue, and TOBS (Taylor of Old Bond Street) Cedarwood creams. All lathered in the Captains Choice bowl, and a few drops of NOW Solutions Vegetable Glycerin added. I've used the Parker Safety Razor 100% Silvertip Badger Bristle Faux Horn Handle Shaving Brush, RazoRock Plissoft Disruptor Synthetic Shaving Brush - 22mm, and Simpson Duke 3 Pure Badger Shaving Brush. 3 pass shaves every time. My prep and post shave haven't changed much at since I started DE shaving. Post shave, I'm using a Gentleman Jon's alum block and Thayers Alcohol Free WH (Witch Hazel). I"m using various ASB (Aftershave Balms) and ASL (Aftershave Lotions).
Why all the detail, just to show that the right razor and blade combination and good technique will yield a great BBS shave! As the above details illustrate It wasn't the Cream, Brush, ASB, or ASL, but the razor, blade, technique, and pre and post shave routine.
If anyone wants to see my journey check out my journal, Clyde72's Shaving Journal.
I highly recommend to everyone to start a Journal to document your successes and failures! Just go to the Journals and Diaries sub forum and start one.
This is what has worked for me. YMMV!
Thanks to all the members of B&B without who's help and suggestions, I would not have been able to achieve this accomplishment!
I've Acheived my 1st BBS DE Shaves!
